Far far away from home

So... at the beginning of November 2016 I took off to Bhaktapur, a little southeast of Kathmandu.

So amazing to go to this place on earth that I only visited in the imagination!
Well .... I may have to admit .... After many hours of flying arriving tired after many hours traveling and actually frozen, I vent to sleep with thoughts like; I can't handle this. Will I even be able to crouch for the toilet visits ???? ........."

But it did not take more than three days, and i was in love with this place.
Now the thoughts were "Hmmm ... wondering if you can buy a small apartment here and come back every now and then ..".
Amazing people, beautiful nature and so so much for me to learn.
Certainly the country is poor, but western world could and should have a lot to learn from here. Many times I wonder who of us is really poor??
I stayed with Binod and his family. What a benefit to live like this and actually share the life of a Nepalese family and not as a tourist.

Binod helps his son with homework. Large parts of school education are in English.

Here his mom and daughter. I have received many meals from this hospitable woman. However, she thought I ate very small portions ... after a week I was offered to eat on the baby plate which I did the rest of the stay.
Talk about food ..... Nepalese cuisine is not what we encounter in everyday life.
According to Hindu faith the cow is holly because of that, beef is not served in Nepal. You could encounter cows everywhere.

If I had meat it was chicken. Nepalese dishes are highly inspired from India, but not as spicy even though they use many spices. Everything I tried was really good.

Dal Bath, cooked lentil soup, is the traditional dish served with vegetables and lots of rice. A dish that many eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you have been to Nepal and have not eaten Dal Bath, you have probably not been to Nepal.

Many eat with their fingers like Binod. I tested but did not manage well.
Every morning as soon as I was kind of awake, came home, visited someone, went to bed. In short, as soon as I showed up, I was served a cup of Chai tea with warm milk. It's amazingly good.
The kitchen where Binod's mom and wife cooked. There was always a big pot of rice and vegetable straw ready.

Most of the vegetables harvested from their own garden behind the house.

If some vegetables where missing, There were always someone they can buy from.
